Semi-retired professional who spent many years living and working abroad and thus has a very good idea of just what we have --and what we lack. Since you ask, I'd like to see our political system change. The emphasis on money-raising, unheard of in other democracies, is poisonous. Our politicians are beholden to moneyed interests, regardless of their party. In the meantime, our health care, public education, and transportation systems are expensive, yet second-rate, by the standards of the post-industrial world. Our media are complicit in this state of affairs--as it is on them that this political money is spent--so the people's voice needs to be more clearly heard here as well.
